Woke Desserts: Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Introduces Anti-Trump 'Pecan Resist' Flavor

The age of just desserts has been replaced by the age of woke desserts, a world of substance-free sugary treats with the miraculous ability to rot both the brain and the teeth at the same time. The pioneers in this brave new age are, of course, ice cream moguls Ben & Jerry, who have routinely used their brand of decorative flavoring as a forum for virtue-signaling. Their latest ice cream flavor is the company's most explosive yet: "Pecan Resist."

"Today we launch Pecan Resist!" the company tweeted on Tuesday. "This flavor supports groups creating a more just and equitable nation for us all, and who are fighting President Trump’s regressive agenda."

According to the Ben & Jerry's website, the "Pecan Resist" flavor offers an assorted taste of chocolate ice cream immersed with "white & dark fudge chunks, pecans, walnuts & fudge-covered almonds." But there's more to this ice cream than what meets the eye: the derailment of President Trump's MAGA train.

"Alongside all those nutty chunks, this pint packs a powerful message under its lid: together, we can build a more just and equitable tomorrow," the site says of the flavor. "We can peacefully resist the Trump administration’s regressive and discriminatory policies and build a future that values inclusivity, equality, and justice for people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, refugees, and immigrants."

The "Pecan Resist" flavor supports four far-left organizations dedicated to the resistance: Color of Change, Honor the Earth, Neta, and Women's March. The site does not specify exactly how much of the portions will go to those organizations or if Ben & Jerry's plans to profit in any way from "Pecan Resist."

This type of brazen partisanship from the ice cream giant is nothing new and has only gotten worse in recent years. As the same-sex marriage debates shot throughout the Western world, Ben & Jerry's were on the front lines with new flavors in every country where traditional marriage was under assault. In 2009, the state of Vermont had the flavor "Hubby Hubby," which was followed in 2012 by "Apple-y Ever After" in the U.K. Australia had "I Dough, I Dough" while Ireland had "EngageMint Party."

The company's co-founders, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, even went as far to endorse Bernie Sanders' presidential run with the famed socialist's own flavor: "Bernie's Yearning," a plain mint ice cream beneath a solid layer of chocolate on top, which was meant to represent the top 1% making all the economic gains.

"Jerry and I have been constituents of Bernie Sanders for the last 30 years," Cohen said of the endorsement. "We’ve seen him and we believe him. When we’re out speaking on his behalf people always ask if there’s a Ben and Jerry’s flavor."

“There’s not,” Cohen added. "But if I were going to come up with one, this is what it would be.”

Ben & Jerry’s also endorsed Black Lives Matter, saying "systemic and institutionalized racism are the defining civil rights and social justice issues of our time."

"We believe that saying Black lives matter is not to say that the lives of those who serve in the law enforcement community don’t," the company said in 2016. "We respect and value the commitment to our communities that those in law enforcement make, and we respect the value of every one of their lives."

"But we do believe that — whether Black, brown, white, or blue — our nation and our very way of life is dependent on the principle of all people being served equal justice under the law," the statement continued. "And it’s clear, the effects of the criminal justice system are not color blind."
