Video shows man with concealed carry permit using gun to subdue suspect in Seattle fatal stabbing

An armed bystander with a concealed carry permit was able to subdue a suspect in a fatal domestic violence stabbing at Seattle Center, a building complex in Seattle, Washington.

What happened?

The suspect, identified as David Lee Morris, 30, was held at bay at gunpoint while another bystander pepper-sprayed him. When police arrived Morris was tazed and arrested, KCPQ-TV reported.
The victim, Gabrielle Garcia, 28, was stabbed multiple times and taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She later died, the TV station reported.
KOMO-TV reported that the couple’s 5-year-old son witnessed the attack.
Scott Brown, the armed bystander, was in the area when he heard about what was happening, according to published reports.
A cellphone video shot by a witness reportedly shows Brown holding Morris at gunpoint.

“I saw a girl on the ground laying on someone’s lap, people rushing over,” he said.
Brown was carrying his handgun and when the suspect attempted to flee, he chased him down.
“I saw the knife in his right hand, so I ran after him. I kept getting him to try and put down the knife,” Brown told KCPQ. “We kept walking backwards and backwards and backwards.”
He also said he was getting concerned because it seemed as if it was taking “way too long” for emergency crews to arrive.
Brown said he was aware the entire time that he did not want to shoot anyone.
“The point was to hold his focus,” Brown told the TV station “There were people everywhere, and he’s focused on me. He’s not running after other people. He’s focused on me.”
At one point, the Morris was allegedly facing Brown, who walked backward with his gun drawn.
“Once he saw that I had a gun, he kept trying to convince me to shoot him,” Brown said. “(He was saying) make sure I don’t miss. Make the shot count. He killed the only person he ever loved.”

What led to this?

Court documents indicated the couple were having problems and that Garcia had filed a protection order against him, according to reports. In court documents, he allegedly admits to killing Garcia.
