An Ohio man has been arrested for beating up a 17-year-old after he allegedly found him molesting a five-year-old boy.
Richard Adams, 20, was charged with felony assault following an incident in the Cleveland suburb of Eastlake on Thursday.
'I was doing laundry and I walked out and there was the 17-year-old who had a five-year-old's pants down to his ankles and he had the five-year-old's penis inside of his mouth,' he told Cleveland19
Adams said he got the alleged molester away from the child, who said the teen had 'touched him right there' the night before as well, and yelled out for someone else in the home to call the police.
He then flew into a rage and began attacking the 17-year-old.
'I kinda blacked out,' Adams told Fox8. 'I wanted to help the young boy and that was all I was thinking about was getting it stopped.'
Adams later shared a video of the teen's bloodied face on Facebook. It has since been deleted.
'I do feel sorry for the video. I should not have posted that and I do feel remorseful for the video situation,' the vigilante said.
'I want everyone to stop all the child offenders and predators that are out there. I don't want no child to have to go through that,' he added, noting that he himself is expecting a child soon.
Adams, who is currently out on $5,000 bond and has no prior criminal record, said the only thing worrying him now is the idea that the felony charge will prevent him from seeing his own child's birth.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise money for Adams' legal fees has raked in over $28,700 in two days.
His uncle, Jeff Cook, wrote in the description: 'Ricky blacked out as flash backs from his childhood were hitting him.
'He now faces a felony of the second degree carrying two-eight years in prison. He needs lake counties best to defend him. Anything will help him.'
The Eastlake Police Department has said an investigation is ongoing.
The alleged molester, who is not named because he is a minor, has been charged with rape.
It is unclear whether Adams knew him or the young victim.
Eastlake Police shared an update about the case on Facebook Sunday, noting that they have received numerous phone calls and emails from people expressing frustration with Adams' arrest.
'We truly understand the interest, passion and concerns with this type of case,' the post says.
'It has been processed by the court and will continue to go through the system. Most of the people within our police departments, courts and the entire justice system have families of their own and the men and women are diligently working to ensure that everything is done correctly so that justice is served.
'To attack people within the system to achieve a certain outcome is not what justice is about. We appreciate the impact that this story has had on the community and beyond but we expect people to be civil in expressing their disagreement and/or support of what has and will take place.'
