Woman Brings Baby and Gun To Easter Service, Threatens To Blow It Up. Churchgoers Go Into Action.
The San Diego Police Department stated that they arrived at the auditorium of the Mount Everest Academy, where the services were being held, within two minutes of being alerted. They identified the woman as Anna Conkey, who allegedly was speaking unintelligibly. Police stated that after they examined the gun they found it was unloaded; the church’s pastor, Benjamin Wisan, stated that Conkey had attended services at the church at other times prior to the incident. Police have reportedly been summoned to deal with her at the church before.
Heavy.com reported, “On April 15, about a week before Anna Conkey showed up at Mount Everest Academy with a gun, she made a Facebook post talking about how God had appointed her to give the church a message. She said that she went to the church to deliver this message — but instead of listening, the church called the police and ordered her to leave.”
According to The Daily Mail, Conkey “reportedly served as a digital media producer at NBC 7 San Diego and in the United States Navy,” and has posted on YouTube and Facebook that Jesus is a “liar,” the Bible is a “trap,” and “great deception” was occurring in churches and synagogues. She reportedly posted Zechariah 10:2, “For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies, and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; they are in trouble because there is no shepherd,” just prior to her invasion of the church.
One post that Conley allegedly made stated, “The one who came as Jesus was a liar!!! Another word for 'The Comforter' is The Advocate! Why would he say that unless he’s the Adversary??? Which means that since we’ve been worshipping him as God and believing everything he said, we’ve all be deceived. One witness stated that at Mount Everest Academy, “She was saying craziness about the rapture not being real, and everyone going to hell.”
David Michael Miller, a military member who was one of the people reportedly subduing Conkey, told ABC 7, “After she started pointing the gun at the baby one of the older gentlemen grabbed it from her and then me and a couple of other men tackled her. We got the baby away from her. A few minutes after that, the cops came in. She was trying to run away or something so a cop tackled her through a row of chairs. They arrested her and pulled another gun out of her bra.”
Conkey also has a five-year-old daughter who was nearby; the children were taken into protective custody.
