Suspected 4-Man ISIS Team Arrested… They Were Headed Right for the US Border

The crisis at the border is one with many facets.
The influx of illegal immigrants requires an unsustainable demand of resources, invites an unacceptable level of preventable crime and provides cover for dangerous drug smuggling tactics.
But now, there’s more reason to believe yet another terrifying danger lurks just beyond the shadows of America’s southern border: terrorism.
The porous condition of our border is an invitation to those who wish violence and death on the greatest nation on earth.
A disturbing example is a recent story from Breitbart News’ Brandon Darby and Ildefonso Ortiz.
Four men, suspected of being affiliated with the Islamic State terror group, were arrested by Nicaraguan authorities after an initial international alert went out from United States law enforcement agencies.
According to Breitbart, the four men were arrested “this week at an irregular crossing point known as Guacimada.”
“During questioning, the men presented migrant travel documents given to them by the Costa Rican government,” Breitbart added.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security had previously sent a memorandum asking Mexico for help finding three of the suspects, who were thought to be traveling toward the U.S. border.
Nicaraguan authorities confirmed Wednesday they had actually arrested four suspected terrorists.
At a news conference Tuesday, one day after the memo was first covered by Breitbart, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez confirmed that Mexico was on high alert.
“The three men are identified as Mohamed Ibrahim and Mahmoud Samy Eissa from Egypt, and Ahmed Ghanim Mohamed Al Jubury from Iraq,” Breitbart reported Wednesday.
“The three men held travel documents from Costa Rica issued on June 9. The fourth man, Mustafa Ali Mohamed Yaoob from Iraq, had travel documents issued on June 13,” the website added, citing the Costa Rican news outlet Teletica
After Nicaragua arrested the four suspected terrorists, that country’s army “handed them over to national police for investigation, whereupon they were taken to migration authorities for deportation via the Penas Blancas border crossing,” according to Reuters.
“The four men were delivered to Costa Rican migration authorities.”
In their original exclusive report Monday, Ortiz and Darby confirmed that Mexico was, in fact, on high alert because of information received from America’s DHS.
“The documents make reference to BITMAP, the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations’ Biometric Identification Transnational Migration Alert Program, a collection of databases on ‘special interest aliens, violent criminals, fugitives and confirmed or suspected terrorists encountered within illicit pathways,'” Breitbart reported.
The story was sparsely covered by U.S. establishment media outlets, with the exception of Reuters, as noted above.
1. We broke news that US identified ISIS suspects heading to border and warned Mexico.

2. Mexico’s President and other high ranking officials are now on record saying it’s true.

3. US media outlets still aren’t reporting on it, but Mexico’s media outlets are reporting on it.

To Darby’s credit, he admitted the problem at the border is complicated and not squarely the fault of one person or party.
I could pick both the Trump and Obama Administrations apart on this issue—as could any honest person with knowledge of the problems. Choosing to act like one Party or person is responsible is either dishonest or uninformed. https://twitter.com/sarahelizab370/status/1143579006681305088

“The border“ isn’t the problem. The border is where the symptoms of the underlying problems manifest most visibly. Extreme poverty and transnational organized criminal networks feed off each other and our border won’t be secure until those two issues are better addressed.

The solution to the border crisis will not come easily or quickly.
But more honest reporting about what is actually happening is a step in the right direction.
