Kirstie Alley shreds People Mag’s spin on her criticism of Bette Midler’s ‘joke’ about black Trump supporters

As we told you earlier this week, Bette Midler’s tweet about Trump caught the attention of actress Kirstie Alley, who called it “one of the most racist, degrading ‘jokes’ I’ve seen on Twitter”:
This is one of the most racist, degrading "jokes" I've seen on Twitter & that's saying a lot. We get it Bette, you hate Trump & that's your right but to imply Black men have to be PAID to celebrate their OWN political views is pure and REAL racism. And "BLACKGROUND"?? WTF??!! https://twitter.com/bettemidler/status/1154044513872015361

Here’s how People Magazine framed it in a tweet:

That didn’t sit well with Alley:
I'm not a conservative and my tweet was in defense of Black men having their own views .. It had ZERO to do w politics. HER joke was racist and if her name was ROSEANNE BARR you would have jumped all over it.. racism is racism no matter who spouts it.. so don't soften it https://twitter.com/people/status/1154799502429249541

Does that media approach sound familiar?
Right?
Exactly !!! Political affiliation had nothing to do with what she tweeted. And yes, of Rosanne Barr has tweeted the same thing, they would be all over it..

You don't have to explain your politics. This isn't about politics. It's about the horrifically racist notion that a black person can't express preferences and leanings outside a preconceived spectrum, and if they do, it's only because they were paid to.

It can’t be long before some in the mainstream media try and make Midler the victim in all this.
