Marianne Williamson Says Her ‘Love’ is Extended to Trump – Even if He’s a ‘Dark Psychic Force’
I’ll say this much for self-help guru and Democrat candidate Marianne Williamson: She’s a lot more famous now than she was a few months ago.
That’s pretty impressive, because I’m told she was famous before. I’m not exactly big on the Deepak Chopra/Wayne Dyer school of quasi-spiritualistic nonsense, but she’s apparently a big player in it and pals around with Oprah.
Now, though, she’s being taken seriously as a presidential candidate — if not as someone who could win the Democratic nomination, then at least someone who’ll stick around longer than we thought she would. And boy, has she ever been quotable.
Aside from her “Girlfriend, you are so on” moment from the first debate, her most meme-worthy moment from the first debate was where she spoke directly to the president through the television screen.
“I want you to hear me, please,” she said. “You have harnessed fear for political purposes, and only love can cast that out. So, I, sir, I have a feeling you know what you’re doing. I’m going to harness love for political purposes. I will meet you on that field, and sir, love will win.”

If that didn’t get your political juices flowing — or at least get “Love is a Battlefield” playing in your head — then nothing will. In the second debate, she had a similar meme-worthy moment involving those ineffable forces of the soul: “If you think any of this wonkiness is going to deal with this dark psychic force of the collectivized hate that this president is bringing up in this country, then I’m afraid that the Democrats are going to see some very dark days,” she said.

So, here’s the question: If President Donald Trump is darkness and fear and Marianne Williamson is love, does Williamson love the source of that darkness and fear? It’s almost like a theological matter, only much, much dumber — which pretty much describes almost Williamson’s entire oeuvre, if you think about it.
Anyway, CNN’s John Berman asked that deep question during Williamson’s appearance on “New Day” Wednesday, and she said her love “absolutely” extends to President Trump.
“As Martin Luther King said, ‘God said I have to love my enemies, he didn’t say I have to like them,’” she told Berman.
“Sometimes love says no. Love is not sentimental and weak and anemic,” she continued.
“Love is powerful. Love is strength. Sometimes it’s because we love a child that we say ‘no.’ Our president is not a king. Part of the core of American freedom is that we get to protest.”

Boy. Just makes that whole “love is patient, love is kind” stuff from the Bible seem like child’s play, doesn’t it?
Williamson was also on the program to talk gun control and her reparations program, the latter being the signature issue of her campaign when she’s not prattling on about “dark psychic force[s].”
That reparations program would earmark up to $500 billion to be spent by a council of African-American leaders “for economic and educational renewal.”
In terms of gun control, meanwhile, there were some typical Williamsonian quotes (“You know, violence is the absence of peace;” “Our government could do so much more with public policy to serve love rather than crass economics”) and about, oh, 15 seconds regarding her boilerplate Democrat plan to ban so-called “assault weapons” and institute universal background checks. But, you know, with love:
I bring up Marianne Williamson’s latest example of political woo-woo not because it’s fun to laugh at dark psychic train wrecks, but because of the fact that she is the archetypal Democrat candidate for 2020. She just doesn’t make any fancy pretense of hiding it behind that wonky stuff.
What is Donald Trump to this field of liberals? A dark psychic force, propelled into the White House by some evil spirit not quite known but believed to have something to do with “white nationalism” or the Kremlin.
The Democrats, meanwhile, are the party of love because they want to spend your money on divisive stuff like reparations and suspend your Second Amendment rights.
How is it that love cannot drive out hate? And yes, that love can even be extended to the hateful, and those who harbor dark psychic forces can become agents of love if they start voting Democrat or buy some crystals or something.
Williamson is getting some traction after two debate performances that were wacky enough to get attention but not too far off of whatever else was being said on stage to stand out egregiously. (That last part should tell you something.)
I hope she stays around for the third round of debates. Of course, maybe the rest of the Democrats will try to stop her from coming by getting TBS to rerun “Avatar” that night. Let’s hope not, because this prattle just gets more entertaining as time goes by.
