MSNBC Host: Mass Shootings May Be Chance for Beto To ‘Gain Some Momentum’
As if the weekend shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, haven’t already been politicized enough, an MSNBC host is now using the tragedies to speculate on the presidential aspirations of former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke.
On Tuesday, MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle asked a guest if O’Rourke may benefit from the shooting in his former congressional district.
“As bad as this may sound, could this moment be a chance for Beto to gain some momentum?” Ruhle asked.
Maria Theresa Kumar, CEO of the political group Voto Latino, responded without hesitation.
“I think so,” Kumar said. “When you look at who the president is most afraid of, you often hear within inner circles that Beto is the one that concerns him.”
Neither host nor guest seemed to have any qualms with questioning how politically advantageous the deaths of 22 innocent people may be.

Ruhle’s question should come as no surprise to anyone who’s followed MSNBC’s history of improprieties.
It was Ruhle, after all, who last month commented that “Never Trump” Republicans wouldn’t be likely to vote for California Sen. Kamala Harris in a presidential election because she’s “too black.”
GOP pollster Chris Wilson mentioned to Ruhle that Republicans who refused to vote for either Donald Trump or former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would also be unlikely to “vote for an Elizabeth Warren or a Kamala Harris or a Bernie Sanders.”
“Why not Kamala Harris?” Ruhle replied.
As Wilson tried to explain why Harris’ far-left policies would never satisfy Republicans who rejected Clinton (who is of course white), Ruhle interrupted.
“Because it sounds like she’s more just ‘too black,'” Ruhle said.

The indiscreet statements don’t end there.
This week, MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski suggested that “Democrats could get some traction,” following the pair of weekend shootings.
Just weeks ago, MSNBC panelist Michael Eric Dyson compared the Betsy Ross flag to the Nazi swastika.
All those incidents are from the last month alone. The list goes on.
MSNBC hosts like Ruhle and guests like Kumar are nothing if not tactless. Their politicized reactions to a shooting perpetrated just days earlier are only the latest example in a long line of network indiscretions.
