‘RESIGN’: Portland Mayor Blasted For Oblivious Photo Of Him And His Wife

Hours after traffic-blocking violent rioting and a dozen arrests in Portland, Oregon, the city's mayor posted a photo of himself and his wife strolling peacefully into a market hand-in-hand, using the caption: "Sundays in Portland."

"Saturdays in Portland," however, are a lot different. The day before Mayor Ted Wheeler's post, Antifa activists targeted journalists and went after protesters, some of whom were members of the right-wing Proud Boys. Below is some of the ugly footage posted by journalist and Quilette editor Andy Ngo and others which has been conveniently ignored by Mr. Wheeler:

🚨 DISGUSTING 🚨 Antifa protestors harass & taunt badly injured older conservative couple who they earlier assaulted.

Saying “you deserved it” and laughing at them, a guy in a dog fetish costume was calling them pedophiles.

I called the police to escort them out to safety.

The tweet from Mayor Wheeler, unsurprisingly, was ripped online for its oblivious nature. Twitter users, some claiming to live in Portland, pointed to the violent protesting in the city and Portland's severe homelessness crisis. According to Portland Monthly, 2018 figures estimated 14,476 homeless people reside in the city.
Sundays in Portland, looks fucking awesome.

Glad you and the wife are having such a wonderful time while part of your city burns and another part is wondering where their next meal is coming from.

After a violent Antifa protest last month, where Ngo was brutally assaulted by Antifa "protesters" and suffered a brain hemorrhage, Wheeler was criticized for allegedly giving a "stand down" order to police officers. Wheeler has denied giving such an order.
"Attacked by antifa. Bleeding. They stole my camera equipment. No police until after. waiting for ambulance. If you have evidence Of attack please help," Ngo wrote.
Last year, Ngo was assaulted by Antifa while covering a #HimToo rally in Portland. The journalist was verbally berated and physically accosted and had his camera equipment covered in silly string. At the time, Ngo noted that the police did nothing during that assault. Video footage of the 2019 attack on Ngo shows that police were nowhere to be found.
