Shocking video shows a straphanger mercilessly beat another passenger unconscious on the platform after he was SPAT at twice as the subway doors close on him in NYC

Sometimes it's best to just walk away from confrontation.
A wild video filmed at the Penn Station 34th Street subway station in Manhattan shows the moment a would-be passenger gets brutally beaten after he spat on another straphanger - twice.
In the brief clip shared on various social media sites, the brazen passenger can be seen spitting on the other man as the doors close on the 1 train.

The furious straphanger immediately starts clawing at the subway doors in an effort to get on the platform, and as he gets the door slightly ajar, the man spits in his face again.
Growing even more irate, the man grabs at the door more until they finally open up.
He immediately pounces on the spitter and knocks the man's hat off while pummeling him.

Soon he's crouching over the man, punching him in the face.
The cameraman and other bystanders in the immediate vicinity exclaim their support for the beat down, informing people trying to break up the fight that the man had spit on the straphanger initially.
And by the time other bystanders try to intervene, the straphanger leaps off the now-unconscious man before leaving the scene.
The cameraman and other bystanders circle the unconscious man, who is splayed out on the platform as the clip comes to a close.
The MTA could not be reached for a comment.
It is unknown when the video was filmed as both men are in jackets and it is currently summer in NYC.
