NBC News launches its own online confessional for those repenting for climate change — and gets taken to the woodshed over it

NBC News announced Wednesday that it has built a confessional of sorts for those people feeling guilty about their contribution to climate change.

What are the details?

NBC unveiled the online confessional for those people who feel the need to confess their climate change-related sins in a private online setting.
The network is promoting the online forum as something called "Climate Confessions."
NBC explains that the project is meant to get people talking about climate change, and in turn, examine themselves and their role.
"Even those who care deeply about the planet's future can slip up now and then," the website explains. "Tell us: Where do you fall short in preventing climate change? Do you blast the A/C? Throw out half your lunch? Grill a steak every week? Share your anonymous confession with NBC News."
Users can file their admission through the "Submit your confession" button on the site, and also allows users file their sins under groups such as "food waste," "energy," "plastics," "meat," and more.
Users can view anonymous confessions of others after making their submission.

What have people said?

Fox News contributor and Townhall editor Katie Pavlich weighed in with scorn on the network's latest project.
On Twitter, she wrote, "This 'confession' page by NBC News about how you supposedly contribute to climate change is insane. Eat meat? You must confess! Use plastic? Confess! Drive a car? Congress! [sic] There's a list of 'sins.' Climate change is a religion." 
Psychology professor Geoffrey Miller added, "Climate confession: I haven't done all I could to promote nuclear power." 
Journalist Yashar Ali also made light of the new tool.
He shared a screenshot of his submission on Twitter, and wrote, "Wait ... did I do this right?"
Ali's submission read, "I waste a lot of energy on men who don't treat me well." 
Many other social media users refused to believe that the network's new feature was even real.
As highlighted by the Daily Wire, other submissions included:
  • I sleep with the air conditioner on year-round and justify it to myself by recycling
  • I do not believe in man-made climate change and do absolutely nothing to 'prevent' it in any way, shape or form.
  • I fly too much... partially due to work, but on the flip side I do not own a car.
  • I will use the easiest method of transportation for the distance I am travelling.
  • I travel often to conferences (flying). I think about the emissions + try to justify it with, "the plane is going there anyway."
  • I think the climate has always been changing, and I'm not going to stop eating meat because of cult-like manipulation by the left.
  • I use way too many products packaged in ridiculous amounts of plastic. Looking for alternatives.
  • I like the temperature low in my home so I blast the AC in the summer. Using so little heat in the winter justifies it somehow.
  • I use enough Q-tips for a family of 8. I have an addiction to them in hygiene purposes, makeup application, even cleaning.
