Alec Baldwin Rants At Trump: U.S. Government Like ‘The Malignant Dictatorships We’ve Hated’

On Wednesday, apparently triggered by the Department of Justice requesting that the prospective sentence against President Trump’s former associate Roger Stone be reduced, actor Alec Baldwin, who has a vitriolic hatred for the president, launched a Twitter rant in which he compared Trump to Hitler, slammed GOP senators for their “sniveling fealty and lack of courage,” and theorized that the economy was heading downward and thus would stimulate “fascistic thinking.”
Stone was found guilty of seven charges including lying to Congress and witness tampering in the Russia investigation.
Baldwin commenced his tirade by stating, “This week, It’s official. The United States government is as lawless as the malignant dictatorships we’ve hated in our foreign policy since WWII.”

Then he put on his thinking cap and segued to his economic prognostications: “Remember that fascistic thinking takes hold when a standard of living is threatened consistently. People think that things are changing, and downward for most Americans. And that this will become the new normal. They are wholly directed by $.”

Baldwin concluded with a flourish as he warned of apocalyptic events to come: “You wonder how Hitler took control of a once great country. For those of you too young to recall the War or its aftermath, simply watch how this GOP-controlled Senate behaves. Their sniveling fealty and lack of courage. And you begin to get it.”

As The Daily Mail reported, “Last month Baldwin blasted Trump supports for what he described as the ‘colossal destruction of everything that matters’ in the USA in a lengthy Twitter rant.”
Baldwin wrote, “The desecration of those ideals and the near moral collapse of this country falls squarely in the lap of Trump’s supporters… as opposed to Trump himself, who is merely what psychology labels the ‘objective negative function’ … Like fire, floods and earthquakes, it destroys, and only destroys, by its very nature. Without prejudice. It is Trump voters, particularly those who would re-elect him who bear the blame. For the undeniable and colossal destruction of everything that matters to us as Americans that cannot be merely monetized.”
In October 2018, as The Daily Wire reported, Baldwin told a group of rich Democratic donors at a fundraiser in New Hampshire that “we need to overthrow the government” because of President Donald Trump. As Fox News reported, Baldwin stated, “In an orderly and formal way, and lawful way, we need to overthrow the government of the United States under Donald Trump. [This election] and the one that follows in 2020 will be the most consequential elections since the election of FDR. It is time to overthrow the government of Donald Trump — not in a violent way or unlawful way — but it must be overthrown nonetheless.”

Baldwin also theorized about potential challengers to Trump, surmising, “I’m hoping that someone that isn’t necessarily on the horizon right now would materialize. I don’t think anybody that’s a front-runner now of the top six, seven, eight names that I’ve seen, I don’t think any of them is going to have an easy time of it.”
