Crenshaw Promotes Unity After Hillary Clinton Mocks Trump’s Coronavirus Response

Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) appeared on Fox News on Saturday to talk about the country’s coronavirus response, but was first asked about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton mocking “the president’s America first message” in a tweet that should have been a somber update about the pandemic.
“Somebody like Hillary Clinton is so used to taking political jabs at the president or her political opponents anytime there is an outcome that is unfortunate, but this isn’t the time. This is a tragedy for all Americans, for the entire world,” said Crenshaw.
“This newfound issue where we find the worst in each other, and we question each other’s intentions, and that happens all the time in politics, but now is not the time to do that. There is a pandemic going on,” said Crenshaw.
As The Daily Wire previously reported, Clinton tweeted a New York Times article Friday morning titled “The U.S. Now Leads The World In Confirmed Coronavirus Cases,” alongside a sardonic statement of her own: “He did promise ‘America First.’”
It should be noted China began saying they had no new coronavirus cases the day after they removed reporters from The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal from the country.
“This is what worries me about the future,” Crenshaw told Fox News. “We have difficult conversations about how to move to risk containment, to risk mitigation, to risk management, opening up society along with the threat of the pandemic.”
“It’s going to be easy to have very disingenuous criticisms of each other and moralize against each other, but we can’t do that, we have to do this together,” said Crenshaw.
Later in the segment, the Texas congressman encouraged everyone to collectively embrace that Americans have been “coming together and figuring out what needs to get done.”
The Daily Wire has reported positive developments in the country’s coronavirus response, including a private medical company developing a coronavirus test that can deliver positive test results in five minutes, and scientists at U.S. universities concluding that the virus doesn’t undergo significant mutations, meaning a potential vaccine could be extremely effective.
During the interview, Crenshaw also suggested that Americans should look toward state and local government officials to receive more personalized public health updates, noting that the role of the federal government during the outbreak should be to support local governments, not “micromanage” the pandemic response.
“As Americans, we tend to keep looking to the president to micromanage our situation. That’s really not how our system works  it never has, and it never will. Every city has different needs, every city has different preferences, different problems,” said Crenshaw.
According to CNN, New York has been the hardest hit area of the country, and as of Saturday afternoon, the state reported 59,000 cases of coronavirus and 969 deaths.
As The Daily Wire previously reported, Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) revealed on Sunday that the hospitalization rate was experiencing slower growth, and was now only doubling every six days, instead of every two days.

However, Cuomo warned that the “apex” of the epidemic has not yet arrived, and that the city was preparing for a flood of additional patients. The governor also mentioned that over 75,000 health care workers were already volunteering to help New York address potential shortages of medical personnel.
