Gov. "Big" Jim Justice Holds The Line For Trump, Refuses To Acknowledge Joe Biden As President-Elect
As the mainstream media and most Democrats continue to force the country to believe that former Vice President Joe Biden is the clear winner of the 2020 presidential election, there are plenty of strong allies of President Donald Trump who are refusing to bite.
One of those allies is the always-reliable West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice, who according to WPXI, refused during a Wednesday press conference to declare Biden the President-elect. Given his position, his refusal sent a strong message to West Virginia Trump supporters that he backs the president’s legal challenges to determine the true outcome of the presidential election.
“As far as acknowledging that the election is over, I do not do that,” Justice said when posed with the question at a routine Coronavirus press conference.
Being the honorable man that he is, Justice was also quick to say that should the certified election results favor Biden as the 46th U.S. president, Justice is prepared to offer him the congrats and respect that he would deserve at that point.
“If Joe Biden is truly our legally elected president of the United States, we should all celebrate and support him,” Justice added.
President Trump, who has praised the no-nonsense, West Virginia governor in the past, tweeted his praise this morning after Justice’s comments hit the news cycle.
“Big Jim is the greatest!” Trump tweeted.
Of course, Trump easily won the blue-collar state of West Virginia in the 2020 election, securing a staggering 68.7 percent of the vote, which earned him five electoral votes. The state, which is a pillar of the coal-mining industry, obviously approves of Trump’s efforts to not only revive the industry but also his promise to keep it burning hot in the face of Democrat opposition.
Not only did Justice earn a second term as governor, but 12 new state Republicans also secured wins in the 2020 election, making the state about as red as a state can possibly be.
Justice’s comments came in the wake of West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin becoming the only congressional delegate in the state to acknowledge Biden’s victory, according to WV Metro News.
“After an unprecedented election the American people have spoken; Joe Biden is our President-elect for all Americans, not just those who voted for him,” Manchin said recently. However, he also made headlines after a Fox News appearance in which he vowed to vote against radical progressive ideas like court-packing and defunding the police, should Democrats gain a foothold in the U.S. Senate.
“I commit to you tonight, and I commit to all of your viewers and everyone else that’s watching, I want to allay those fears, I want to rest those fears for you right now,” Manchin told Fox News’ Bret Baier this week.
Only time will tell, but it’s clear that there are still many out there who understand that this election isn’t over until it’s certifiably over and after the legal dust has settled.
