Robert De Niro calls out the President AGAIN as he gives scathing 'f*** Trump' speech while presenting an American Icons award to his long-time friend Al Pacino
Trump critic Robert De Niro did not shy away from lambasting the President while giving a speech at the American Icon Awards.
The actor, 75, made time to criticize President Donald Trump while presenting an award to his long-time friend Al Pacino in Beverly Hills on Sunday, in video obtained by TMZ.
'You didn't think you were going to completely get away with it without a "f**k Trump" moment, did you?' Robert said to a cheering crowd.
'The progressives at the American Icon Awards call it the Tribute To Individuals Who Lead America. Not so fast... Evander Holyfield, my friend Quincy Jones and my life long compatriot Al Pacino don't lead America. Maybe they should, but they do fill their own essential roles.
'People with great individual accomplishments who give us examples to look up at. They've earned our respect and admiration, and they deserve this tribute. On the other hand, the individual who currently purports to lead America is not worthy of any tribute,' he said along to a mixture of cheers and jeers.
'Unless you think of this impeachment and imprisonment as a sort of tribute,' he said. 'Now that's how you make America great again.'
Sunday night marks just the latest time Robert has taken Trump to task.
The Taxi Driver actor has made no secret of his distaste for the president, and ahead of the 2016 election called the then-candidate 'he's a punk, he's a dog, he's a pig, he's a con,' in an election ad.
Meanwhile, Robert reunited with his long-time friend and former co-star Al Pacino at the American Icon Awards at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel, California on Sunday.
The two old friends embraced as Robert presented Al, 79, with the American Icon Award.
While Robert looked dapper in a blue shirt with black two-piece suit and a black tie, Al cut a handsome figure in a tuxedo suit worn with a black waistcoat over a black shirt.
Pictures show the duo sharing a joke on stage as Robert delivered a speech honoring his friend.
The pair appeared to be larking around on stage as Al grabbed Robert's waist from behind.
The Scarface actor looked touched as his fellow actor presented him with his gong, which celebrates his illustrious movie career.
Speaking to CBS about his award, Al said: 'It’s woken me up. It’s great.'
The night also saw Robert and Al pose with fellow actor Sylvester Stallone.
Other winners at the event included music icon Quincy Jones and boxer Evander Holyfield.
Other famous faces who showed up to the event included former supermodel Janice Dickinson, 64, model Naomi Campbell, 48, actor Peter Facinelli, 45, with his girlfriend Lily Anne Harrison.
Singer Robin Thicke, 42, performed during the gala that also drew Phil Donahue, 83, and Marlo Thomas, 81.
Robert and Al are set to reunite once again for upcoming Netflix film The Irishman.
The Martin Scorsese directed flick is an American biographical crime film which sees Robert play Frank Sheeran, Labor union leader and alleged hit man for the Bufalino crime family, while Al plays union activist Jimmy Hoffa.
The film also features other acting legend including Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel.
Opening up about the film, which is based on Charles Brandt's 2003 book I Heard You Paint Houses, Robert recalled how it was his idea to adapt the screenplay.
He told Hollywood Reporter: 'It's a terrific book…I read it and I said, "Marty [Scorsese], you should read this book because I think maybe this is what we should try and [do]"'.
Explaining how the film took 12 years to get off the ground, he continued: 'We started this whole process in 2007, so it's been a long time coming. I'm excited to see it and to share it after all this time working on it.'
