Ocasio-Cortez Blocks Reporter For Stating Facts, Then The Fireworks Start
New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez loves to attack people on Twitter but when it comes time to take some of what she gives she runs and hides.
One America News Network (OANN) reporter Liz Wheeler called out the 29-year-old in one of her tweets and got blocked for it.
“Trump spent millions on a poorly attended, 1 day parade days after saying he couldn’t afford toothpaste & soap for caged children.
“Did he ask Congress for military parade💰? No.Trump held these kids hostage to secure billions for their abusers. Congress needs to see that,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“Stop. You voted NO on a $4.5B bill to give emergency humanitarian relief to migrant children in the border detention centers.
“If you wanted to help the kids, YOU COULD HAVE. But you didn’t,” Wheeler responded in the tweet that got her blocked.
“Omg hahahah @AOC blocked me!” Wheeler said. “I am ALWAYS respectful & civil. I present facts only, nothing personal. Somebody is threatened by facts & the truth!”
“This is the tweet which made her block me. And this is her tweet I was responding to. The truth stings,” she said with a screenshot.
“Dear Lord. Just ignore people who are rude & civilly engage people who challenge your policies. You are a PUBLIC OFFICIAL, @AOC. It’s a critical part of our public dialogue & self-govt to hold elected officials accountable,” she said.
And she is correct. A court ruled that a public official can not block anyone on Twitter after President Donald Trump blocked some users.
“I’m also team never-block. I’ve legit never blocked a single person on Twitter. I love engaging with people who disagree with me! Guess @AOC isn’t confident enough in her ‘principles’ to do the same,” she said.
“Also you’d have to be a tech illiterate Granny to think blocking somebody prevents them from seeing your tweets.
“So the only reason to block… is so your ideas aren’t challenged. There’s a fitting word for that: cowardice,” she said.
