For Second Time In One Day NBC News Corrects Fake Story About Trump

It has not been a fantastic day for the cracker jack staff at NBC News with another story about President Donald Trump that it got incorrect.
In the network’s fervor to use anything to attack President Trump it is doing lackluster fact checking and having to walk back what it has reported.
On Wednesday, after the network reported that kids born to United States service members overseas would not be granted citizenship, it had to correct itself again.
“Correction: Experts who have looked at new USCIS policy say it applies if a service member adopts a child overseas, but children born to service members on deployment would still automatically get citizenship. I deleted tweets with the incorrect info,” NBC News correspondent Ken Dilanian said.

This came on the heels of MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell claiming on Tuesday that the president had his loans cosigned by Russian oligarchs and walking it back on Wednesday.

MSNBC and one of its hosts, Lawrence O’Donnell, are apologizing for making a claim against President Donald Trump that is not rooted in fact.
On Tuesday the host claimed that there was evidence that Russian Oligarchs cosigned for loans for President Trump when he was a businessman.
He told fellow host Rachel Maddow that a “single source close to Deutsche Bank has told me that the Trump — Donald Trump’s loan documents there show that he has co-signers.
“That’s how he was able to obtain those loans, and that the co-signers are Russian oligarchs,” he said to a pretend shocked Maddow.
“That would explain — it seems to me — every kind word Donald Trump has ever said about Russia and [Russian President] Vladimir Putin, if true, and I stress the if true part of this,” he said.
He said it would “test the Trump theory that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and his supporters would still be with him.”
“Yeah, man. Seriously,” Maddow said, pretending to be a fair and impartial journalist. “That’s the financial equivalent of that.”
“Now, I want to stress, that’s a single source. This has not been confirmed by NBC News, I have not seen any documentation from Deutsche Bank that supports this and verifies this,” O’Donnell said.
“This is just a single source who has revealed to me, and that’s where that stands at this point. It’s going to need a lot more verification before that can be a confirmable fact.”
Apparently that verification that he was praying for did not come to pass as, on Wednesday, he walked back the allegations.
“Last night I made an error in judgment by reporting an item about the president’s finances that didn’t go through our rigorous verification and standards process.
Last night I made an error in judgment by reporting an item about the president’s finances that didn’t go through our rigorous verification and standards process. I shouldn’t have reported it and I was wrong to discuss it on the air. I will address the issue on my show tonight.

“I shouldn’t have reported it and I was wrong to discuss it on the air. I will address the issue on my show tonight,” he said.
Not certain if that is the worst apology in the history of apologies but the fact that he followed it with a plug for his show made it worse.
“This is one of the reasons that a majority of Americans have lost trust in the media,” White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said.
“Instead of applying ethics and standards to their reporting, journalists and left-wing outlets have weaponized the media, using it to attack and harass people with little to no regard for the truth.”
