Parents bought their son a BMW for his birthday. According to reports, he wanted a Jaguar instead, so he pushed the BMW into a nearby river.

22-year-old India man reportedly pushed his brand-new birthday present — a BMW M3 — into a river near his home because he didn't get the Jaguar he actually wanted.

The man — only identified by the name Akash — was later said to enter the water in an attempt to retrieve the vehicle.

What are the details?

A local official said the young man was belligerent and arrogant about receiving the luxury vehicle, which he reportedly complained was too small for him and his friends, according to Fox News.

"The youth was arrogant and kept insisting that he be given a Jaguar as a BMW is a little small for him and his friends inside," the official said, according to the outlet.
The official added, "We would do a preliminary investigation but this seems to be a personal matter. We will proceed according to the law."

Akash's father also expressed his dismay over his son's actions, according to Fox News.

"I wanted to give my son a birthday present. We could only afford to give him a BMW, while he kept on insisting that he be given a Jaguar," his father said. "He said the vehicle was too small but we thought he will be okay.

"We never imagined he would do anything like this," he admitted.

The Times of India reported a slightly different angle on the events, however.

Oh?

Mukesh Kumar, SHO at Chhachhrauli police station, said the young man did dump the vehicle into a body of water out of anger.

"Akash was demanding for a Jaguar car from his father, but when his father failed to buy him one, he threw away his BMW in a fit of anger," Kumar said.

Akash's parents, however, reportedly said their son has a history of mental illness, and had never demanded they buy him a Jaguar.

His parents also offered up a different story when it came to how the car ended up submerged, saying that the vehicle went into a canal when their son swerved in the road to avoid striking an antelope.

"We have two cars, a BMW and a Swift. My son never demanded a Jaguar car," Akash's father said.
