Leftists Throw An ‘Impeach Trump’ Event. No One Shows Up.

Judging by the breathless coverage in the mainstream media, Americans are all but storming Capitol Hill to demand that their elected representatives impeach President Trump.
But that is not the case, apparently.
A website called ImpeachmentAugust.org said there would be an impeachment rally on Monday at 11 a.m. on the House side of the Capitol.
No one showed up, Breitbart News reports.
Not. One. Person.
Maybe because it's September and not August? Who knows.
The website says "Donald Trump has broken the law, abused presidential power, and stoked hatred in our country. ... If the average person did this, they'd be in jail. It's past time for Congress to do their jobs and begin a formal impeachment inquiry. But the reality is, unless their constituents show up this August during the congressional recess, they won't act."
So the site — supported by a slew of liberal organizations, including MoveOn, Need to Impeach, Indivisible, Stand Up America, March of Truth, By the People, Common Cause, Free Speech for People, Democracy for America, Progressive Democrats of America, Credo, and Democrats.com — urged people to "Find a town hall or plan your own district office visit and ask your Representative: 'Will you uphold your oath to support and defend the Constitution and support an impeachment inquiry into crimes committed by Donald Trump?' "

Now, Washington, D.C., is perhaps the optimum place for such a rally. First, it's where Congress is (and the president just happens to live 16 blocks away). And second, 75% of the city's residents are registered Democrats. So you'd think there'd be hundreds, nay thousands, of Trump haters gathered at the Capitol. Not so.
There was another event called for the same place just an hour later. A posting on eventbrite.com said a protest would take place at noon on Monday on the "Capitol lawn below the steps."
No one showed up for that, either, according to Breitbart.
The organizers at the eventbrite.com website wrote this: "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. The charge of 'high crimes and misdemeanors' covers allegations of misconduct by officials, such as perjury of oath, abuse of authority, bribery, intimidation, misuse of assets, failure to supervise, dereliction of duty, unbecoming conduct, refusal to obey a lawful order, chronic intoxication, and tax evasion."
Despite the lack of enthusiasm — even in the liberal bastion that is the nation's capital — the House Judiciary Committee is set to vote this week to move forward with procedures for an impeachment inquiry, The New York Times reported.

The Judiciary Committee took similar steps in the 1970s and 1990s when it conducted impeachment inquiries into Presidents Richard M. Nixon and Bill Clinton. Now, as then, Democrats believe the resolution, a copy of which was reviewed by The New York Times, will allow the panel to speed up its work and potentially elicit more information than it otherwise could about instances of possible obstruction of justice and abuses of power by Mr. Trump.
If the committee, controlled by Democrats, votes to move forward with impeachment, Chairman Jerrold Nadler of New York would be able "to designate hearings of either the full Judiciary Committee or its subcommittees to be a part of the inquiry and subject to special rules," the Times said.
