Surprise! After Trump Authorizes Release of Ukraine Phone Transcript, New Report of “Multiple Allegations” by Whistleblower

Here we go. Now that President Trump has authorized the release of the unredacted transcript of his July 25 phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky in response to a leak of an alleged whistleblower complaint regarding the phone call, there is a new report that the whistleblower has made “multiple allegations” against Trump. The new report also comes after Speaker Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry against President Trump late Tuesday afternoon also in response to the leak.
CBS News White House correspondent Weijia Jiang added the new wrinkle in Tuesday night’s report for the CBS Evening News, “The White House is shrugging off the impeachment inquiry and sources say it shows how “desperate” the Democrats are. But @CBSNews has learned the whistleblower’s complaint involves multiple allegations.”
Video report:
Earlier Tuesday the Senate unanimously passed a resolution brought by Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for the release of the whistleblower complaint to the House and Senate intelligence committees.
UPDATE: The Hill reported last Thursday that a Democrat member of the House Intelligence Committee said that intel Inspector General Michael Atkinson said the whistleblower complaint was based on “more than one” event but did not say “multiple allegations” as CBS did. CBS News did not reference that Hill report, indicating this is a new allegation.
“He didn’t talk about anything about the allegations, where he was very protective,” said Intelligence Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.). “But he did mention that this complaint was based on a series of events, ‘more than one’ to get the exact wordage right.”
