Man, 43, is charged with murder of mother-of-two, 24, who disappeared 10 years ago while her children were sleeping and whose body has never been found

Police in Washington DC have arrested a man on murder charges for the 2010 disappearance of a young mother, whose body was never recovered.

Isaac Moye, 43, was arrested on a warrant on Saturday and charged with second-degree murder while armed for the killing of 24-year-old Unique Harris.

Harris was reported missing from her home in the 2400 block of Hartford Street on October 10, 2010.

Harris, a mother of two, vanished from her bedroom while her sons, then aged three and four, slept in the other room. She was last seen alive at 10pm the previous night.

Over the course of the next several years, police made efforts to find Harris, even producing a YouTube video on the second anniversary of her disappearance in an attempt to generate new leads.

In it, Harris' mother, Valencia Harris, tearfully pleaded with the public to come forward with information to help police find her daughter, whom she described as 'one of the sweetest people that you'll ever want to meet.'

According to Valencia, Unique was a very involved mother to her two sons, and at the time of her disappearance she was getting ready to go back to college to pursue a degree in massage therapy.

In October 2018, DC Superior Court granted a petition for presumption of death of a missing person and a death certificate was issued for Unique Harris.

Then on Saturday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force armed with an arrest warrant tracked down Moye and took him into custody.

DC Metropolitan Police have not revealed what prompted Moye's arrest, only stating in a press release that it came 'as a result of the detectives’ investigation.'

DailyMail.com reached out to the police seeking comment on the circumstances surrounding Moye's arrest.

Moye has a criminal history that includes charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, fugitive from justice, simple assault, and distribution of narcotics.

Harris' mother, who has been relentless in her pursuit of justice for her missing daughter, took to Facebook to express her satisfaction with the arrest.

'I can't say too much right now about the details of Unique's case yet, but I WILL say, NEVER GIVE UP fighting for your loved one NEVER!' Valencia Harris wrote in a post.

Unique is survived by her two sons, her mother and two siblings.
