Trump tears into the 'politically correct and boring' Oscars for 'promoting the Democrats', calls for a name change and demands they bring back a 'great' host after record low TV ratings
Former President Donald Trump mocked the Oscars for receiving the lowest ratings in history, suggesting the failure was intertwined with Hollywood promoting the Democratic Party.
In a statement sent out mid-day Tuesday, Trump also said the Oscars should revert to the classier name, the Academy Awards.
'What used to be called The Academy Awards, and now is called the "Oscars" - a far less important and elegant name - had the lowest Television Ratings in recorded history, even much lower than last year, which set another record low,' Trump wrote.

The Nielsen ratings for Sunday night's 93rd Academy Awards showed only 9.85 million tuned in - an all-time low for the movie awards show.
That's a 58 per cent drop in terms of audience compared to the 2020 Oscars, which also suffered from low ratings, according to Deadline.
In the key demographic for advertisers, viewers ages 18 through 49, the ratings fell 64.2 per cent since the 2020 show.
'Go back 15 years, look at the formula they then used, change the name back to THE ACADEMY AWARDS, don’t be so politically correct and boring, and do it right,' Trump urged.

Since 2019, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hasn't had a host at the show.
'These television people spend all their time thinking about how to promote the Democrat Party, which is destroying our Country, and cancel Conservatives and Republicans,' Trump concluded. 'That formula certainly hasn’t worked very well for The Academy!'
The ex-president sent out the statement about the Sunday night show to his Save America PAC press list on Tuesday.
Trump has long grumbled about the Oscars and used to take to Twitter to air out his gripes, before being removed from the platform in January on the heels of the MAGA riot on Capitol Hill.
In 2019, for example, he tweeted about the 'lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY.'
'Problem is, we don't have Stars anymore - except your President (just kidding, of course)!'
