'We don't want to go through this again': Anti-vax Arizona family now WANTS COVID-19 shots after beloved 47-year-old grandmother of ten dies from virus
The family of a beloved mother, grandmother who died last week in Arizona from coronavirus complications has reconsidered their anti-vax stance and now wants the shots.
Fernanda Vega, 47, mother of four and grandmother to 10 - a longtime healthcare worker - died on July 13 of complications from the virus.
Her grieving husband, Ysmael Vega, is now looking to get the entire family vaccinated after previously refusing the shot due to anti-vax sentiments regarding the vaccine's potential side effects.
'With what I have experienced, I don’t want to go through this again. I do not,' he told Fox 10 Phoenix of the painful loss of his wife, who he described as his 'rock' and 'the foundation' of the family.

Fernanda's symptoms got progressively more concerning, and she was admitted to a local Phoenix-area hospital last Tuesday with a blood clot in the lungs and a weak pulse

The outlet reports that Vega himself is currently still recovering from coronavirus and pneumonia, which he had contracted weeks ago prior to his wife's death.
In fact, it was his COVID-19 diagnosis that spread the virus throughout the Vega household, with both his 17-year-old son and wife catching it.
However, Fernanda's symptoms got progressively more concerning, and she was admitted to a local Phoenix-area hospital last Tuesday with a blood clot in the lungs and a weak pulse.
She died within an hour of arriving at the emergency room, according to Fox 10.
Meanwhile, earlier this week Arizona's health director, Dr. Joshua LaBaer, noted that nearly all of the COVID-19 cases in the state are from those who are not vaccinated, the news outlet reports.

The number of new coronavirus cases in Arizona has nearly quadrupled in the last four weeks, and the vast majority of those who’ve gotten the virus recently are not vaccinated.
Earlier this month, the seven-day rolling average was around 500 to 700 cases per day. However, Arizona is now currently seeing upwards of 1,000 cases a day.
'We are definitely seeing signs in Arizona of another wave,' said Dr. Joshua LaBaer, the state's top health official.
A friend of the Vega family created a GoFundMe page, which has already raised over $17,891 out of a $20,000 goal as of Saturday morning.
