BREAKING: Court Sides with FL Gov DeSantis...Reinstates His Ban on School Mask Mandates Pending Outcome of Appeal

The tug-of-war continues between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and activist Judge John Cooper (pictured below). The judge has TWICE ruled against the governor’s ban on mask mandates in Florida.

Governor DeSantis won approval on Friday to put a hold on Leon County Judge Cooper’s ruling last week (see below) that said the state could not enforce a ban on strict mask mandates in schools.

The Miami Herald reports the 1st District Court of Appeal agreed to a state request to reinstate a stay on Judge John Cooper’s ruling. The decision means the state can continue to punish school officials who impose mask mandates. That means slashing funds to school districts.

Thirteen school districts went against Governor DeSantis and enforced mask mandates resulting in the state withholding funds to school board members. Biden is going against governors like DeSantis by providing funds to any school districts who have fines because of their mask mandates.

JUDGE COOPER HAS RULED TWICE AGAINST GOV DESANTIS:

This is the latest in the battle over mask mandates between DeSantis and school districts in the state.

Leon County Circuit Judge John Cooper ruled in favor of the school districts who defied DeSantis’s order to prohibit mask mandates in schools. The school districts that defied DeSantis, enforced the mandatory mask policy in the classrooms removing choice from parents who want to opt-out of wearing masks in school.

This is the second time activist Judge Cooper has ruled against the governor. He ruled against DeSantis in late August but the governor appealed the decision.

The activist judge’s latest ruling lifts Gov Ron DeSantis’s ban on school mask mandates

Gov. DeSantis withheld funds from two school districts that defied his order so the judge’s decision will return the funds to the school districts.

The battle over masks began with the announcement by DeSantis that he would give parents a choice about masks in the classroom and prohibit school districts from forcing masks on kids:

“I have young kids. My wife and I are not going to do the masks with the kids; we never have. I want to see my kids smiling. I want them having fun. I think that this decision about whether parents want their kids to have to wear masks all day at school, I think that’s a decision that falls squarely within the concord of this Parents’ Bill of Rights that I signed.”

Governor DeSantis signed the Executive Order and it’s been a battle since with activist Judge Cooper.
