Report: Thousands of pedophiles in Democrat-run California serve less than a year in prison for their egregious crimes against children
Democrats in California have made sure that certain men who statutorily rape minors by sodomy don't have to register as sex offenders. Several years ago, they decriminalized child prostitution.
A Daily Mail report has revealed that extra to what appears to be a lax approach to addressing the scourge of pedophilia, California also has gotten into the habit of setting loose child molesters shortly after their criminal convictions.
What are the details?
The California Department of Justice Megan's Law website was designed to provide information on registered sex offenders in the state so that "members of the public can better protect themselves and their families." Accordingly, an offender's name, age, residence, and offenses — drawn from the California Sex and Arson Registry — could be accessed along with the dates of the offender's last conviction and release.
The database was named after Megan Kanka, the murder victim of a twice-convicted pedophile.
The Daily Mail noted that the California DOJ has recently taken steps to "prevent new data from being gathered and analyzed" on the Megan's Law website. Nevertheless, the site allegedly indicated last week that there were currently over 61,000 sex offenders listed across California — a 12% increase over the 2019 figures detailed in the report discussed below.
Utilizing information on the Megan's Law database, a Daily Mail investigation has revealed that thousands of pedophiles who molested kids were released after only a few months in prison.
Having parsed the data of 54,986 sex offenders who were listed on the website as of July 2019, the Daily Mail discovered that 76% had committed offenses involving children.
A similarly staggering number, found through a comparison of conviction and release dates, was how long the average pedophile served in jail: just two years and 10 months.
Thousands of predatory deviants were in and out of prison in less than half that time.
7,152 pedophiles who committed "lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age" — the most common crime in the database — served less than a year in prison.
Among this cohort, 114 men who committed this crime against the innocent "by force or fear" also reportedly served less than a year in jail.
In one instance detailed in the report, 47-year-old pedophile Gualterio Lopez Contreras was reportedly charged in May 2014 with sodomy by use of force, sexual penetration by force, and continuous sexual abuse of a child. Contreras was convicted and given three years in a state prison. However, according to the Daily Mail, the pedophile got credits for 790 days and, as a result, spent less than a year in jail.
Some offenders who got less than a year like Contreras had kidnapped children with intent to rape, pimped out minors, or committed aggravated sexual assaults of a child with intent to rape.
Carlos Alexander Nahue, 48, was convicted of "continuous sexual abuse of a child" in 2015. Nahue was charged in October 2014 and pled no contest to the crime in January 2015. For likely having disturbed his victim for life, Nahue got two days in jail and five years of probation.
According to the Daily Mail, Nahue now lives one block away from a day care and three blocks away from an elementary school.
Former Los Angeles sex crimes prosecutor Samuel Dordulian told the Daily Mail, "Statistics clearly show that pedophiles don't get reformed."
According to the Department of Justice, the "sexual recidivism rates of sex offenders range from about 3 percent after 3 years to approximately 24 percent after 15 years. The highest recidivism rates have been found among child molesters who offend against boys."
"Letting these people out early, we're allowing for a lot more victimization. And that's terrifying," said Dordulian.
Thinking back to his days in the Los Angeles district attorney's office, Dordulian noted that "we made every effort to get as long of a prison sentence as we could, because we knew that the minute they're going to come out, they're more likely to reoffend and another child's gonna get harmed."
Democrat enablers
Revictimization is a serious problem, likely getting worse as a result of policies supported by the state's Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom, suggested Dordulian.
"With Newsom, they've passed a lot of legislation where they are allowing for resentencing, they're allowing for people to come back and there's a push to have less time spent in prison," said the former sex crimes prosecutor.
Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami indicated that Democrat L.A. District Attorney George Gascón also shares in the blame for putting children at risk and denying victims justice.
"Thousands of child victims are being denied justice, and George Gascón and his group of radical prosecutors can care less," Hatami told the Daily Mail.
Gascón reportedly supported Proposition 57, which helped spring nonviolent felons out of jail "upon serving the full term of their primary offense when an alternative sentence has been imposed."
Hatami said, "Most of these sex offenders who are released early have not been rehabilitated whatsoever. This will clearly endanger our future generation of children and our entire community."
Extra to helping keep predacious degenerates out of jail, Newsom signed a bill (SB145) into law permitting judges to decide not to place a man on the sex offender registry if he statutorily raped a grade schooler ten years his junior between the ages of 14 and 17, orally or anally.
According to the bill's sponsor, Democrat state Sen. Scott Wiener, this particular law was a step toward "ending discrimination against LGBTQ young people on CA's sex offender registry."
CBS News reported that Wiener recently claimed that "the word groomer is categorically an anti-LGBTQ hate word."
While California is keeping certain sex offenders off of registries and letting out other sex offenders early, the Daily Mail indicated that it is presently unclear whether this is a nationwide problem.
Localized or not, Hatami concurs with Dordulian: that this "shameful" practice of releasing sexual offenders early whose rehabilitation is dubious "will clearly endanger our future generation of children and our entire community."
