Female Border Patrol Agent Allegedly ‘Violently Assaulted’ By Illegal Immigrant: Report

An illegal immigrant allegedly “violently assaulted” a female Border Patrol agent who was taking him into custody in Arizona, according to a new report.

Citing federal sources, Fox News reporter Bill Melugin reported on social media that the agent was injured while trying to arrest the man in the Tucson Sector of Arizona border with Mexico early Saturday morning.

A statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed an assault occurred but did not share details about the gender of the alleged assailant or the victim. Their names have not been released as of press time.

“On March 4, 2023, at approximately 4:00 a.m., a U.S. Border Patrol agent assigned to the Tucson Sector took a subject into custody near Foudy Road and State Route 92, after investigating the subject’s illegal entry into the U.S.,” the CBP statement said.

“While being placed in a service vehicle, the subject assaulted the agent, injuring the agent’s face and hands. Additional agents responded and took the suspect into custody,” the statement continued. “The assaulted agent was transported for medical treatment.”

The statement said the FBI and local authorities are investigating. The Daily Wire reached out to the FBI for comment.

Border authorities encountered more than 2 million arrests in fiscal year 2022, according to CBP data, a significant increase over the prior year. Republicans often criticize President Joe Biden for not doing more to secure the U.S.-Mexico border, not only to stop illegal crossings but also the flow of illegal drugs such as fentanyl.

The report from Melugin prompted a stern response from one GOP lawmaker who recently proposed a border security bill“It’s time to end this,” tweeted Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX). “I will not tolerate a [House GOP] that does not end this. We have the power.”
