Pelosi Trashes Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, Omar and Pressley — Says They Have No Following Beyond Twitter

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripped into the new batch of progressive Democrat lawmakers, saying that they can’t get anything done because they have no following outside of Twitter.

Pelosi did not hold back when she was asked by the New York Times about Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley criticizing the Democratic Party over the passage of a bill to fund border security.
“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” she said. “But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.”
“If the left doesn’t think I’m left enough, so be it,” she said. “As I say to these people, come to my basement. I have these signs about single-payer from 30 years ago. I understand what they’re saying. But we have a responsibility to get something done, which is different from advocacy. We have to have a solution, not just a Twitter fight.”

Ocasio-Cortez was not about to take the digs without a fight, and hopped on Twitter to snap back at Pelosi.
“That public ‘whatever’ is called public sentiment. And wielding the power to shift it is how we actually achieve meaningful change in this country,” the freshman representative wrote, while quote tweeting a link to the article.
In another tweet, Ocasio-Cortez mocked establishment politicians who brush off the importance of social media.
“I find it strange when members act as though social media isn’t important. They set millions of dollars on fire to run TV ads so people can see their message. I haven’t dialed for dollars *once* this year, & have more time to do my actual job. Yet we’d rather campaign like it’s 2008,” Ocasio-Cortez added.

The new ladies of Congress have frequently clashed with the old guard since taking office and it does not seem like it will be stopping any time soon.
